International NPUAP - EPUAP defines Pressure Ulcer as: ‘A Pressure ulcer is localized injury to the skin and/ or underlying tissue usually over a boney prominence, as a result of pressure or pressure in combination with shear.’ Pressure ulcer is a major concern in Palliative care centers and nursing homes, where the patients are mostly bed ridden.

The factors resulting in the formation of Pressure ulcers are:

• Immobility
  
• Advanced age
  
• Friction and shear
  
• Malnutrition
  
• Exposure to moisture
  

Clinical studies have proven that B-SORE is very effective in healing Pressure ulcers even in advanced stages. It fastens the healing process and gives relief from the excruciating pain of the sores. B-SORE has good anti-microbial activity and thus it prevents bacterial/ fungal infections at the wound site. In this way B-SORE prevents major complications in pressure ulcer patients such as biofilm formation, septicemia, cellulitis etc. It also eliminates odor. On the application of B-SORE, granulation at the wound site is stimulated fast.

Apart from healing Pressure ulcers, B-SORE also prevents them from occurring if applied in a bedridden patient before the appearance of pressure ulcers. It is also found to heal other chronic non-healing and slow- healing ulcers with necrotic tissues. B-SORE in no way will interfere with any other treatment procedures carried out on the patient. B-SORE helps the patients in coping up with Skin Changes At Life’s End (SCALE).
